8:30am:
This morning I was driving down the road to Walgreen’s to pick up some heat patches for Michelle. There was not any traffic on the road, which seems weird. On the radio, the host was talking about 9/11 and being in NY a week before the attacks with his family.
As I walked into the store and all I could see was all this Halloween stuff.
It is September 11th today and it seems like it is going to slip by. I remember when you could go into a store after 9/11 and everyone had American Flags for sale, front and center, red, white and blue everywhere.
11:30-12 Noon.
I was heading down town to meet Michelle for lunch, I noticed that people had their American Flags half-staff; it was glooming outside, like it was going to rain. It seems like a normal day, people moving about on the street, cars, and work trucks, life.
I had packed my gear in the truck, my camera and digital audio recorder. I knew that on Church Street, there would be a program remembering that day. I drove around, nothing,
Weird! A group of us walked down the street to a small cafe where we could look outside the window as we ate, it was quiet!
3:30pm
I drive up to the local Jiffy Lube to get an oil change, we are going to the beach tomorrow. They wave me in, just an oil change and nothing else I said, as I exit my truck. The waiting room is small, windows on both sides that share the view. It's cold, real cold, the AC is blasting on the highest level, besides the sound of the ac unit, the TV flashes video of the planes crashing into the building. The 9/11 Commission Report is on. I sit watching and waiting for my total.
Here is a small multimedia slideshow I put together last year. This was part of a larger multimedia documentary project that I produced right after 9/11.
Alot has changed over the 6 years.
