I wanted to share with everyone a multimedia slideshow I put together that has a selection of images and audio that were from a larger body of work called Innocence Lost, Lynchburg 9/11. I started this project on the day of 9/11 when I volunteered to cover the prayer service in the Vines Center at
Liberty University. There the Rev. Jerry Falwell and 5,000 people kneeled on the floor and prayed and cried as the sounds of music tried to heal what had happen that morning.
During that day and the months to come I kept photographing different events, people and places. I recorded interviews and different sounds from each event and subject. My goal was to document what was happening to our country and how that affected my town, Lynchburg, VA.

After 5 month I felt it was done. I started the process of editing photos and audio, making prints in the darkroom and creating a body of work to show. A gallery show soon followed at the
CJMW off of Main Street in Lynchburg.
After the show came down I contacted the
Library of Congress about my project. Months later it was accepted into the
American Folklife Center and renamed David Duncan September 11th Collection.
Some of the images from the project were published in LIFE book and magazine called,
The American Spirit Meeting the Challenge of September 11.
It has been a great honor to have my images of Lynchburg, VA and the project displayed in the book and in the collection at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
